Delve, Akamai Announce Collaboration

SEATTLE, WA — Online video platform company Delve Networks paired up with Akamai in a deal to provide joint video services to customers, the companies announced today. With a partnership now in place, the companies will work together on projects and also pitch each other’s customers, Delve Networks VP of Product Management Edgardo Nazario told Beet.TV during an interview at the company’s Seattle office this week. As a content delivery network, Akamai has powered many of the biggest live streaming events online and also manages Web traffic. The deal gives Delve support for next-generation streaming technologies. Akamai said it was attracted to Delve’s cloud-based architecture that lets customers pay only for the hardware and software they actually use for video delivery. Delve’s search tools were also appealing, Akamai said. Delve lets users search within a video and them jump to that point in the video. Delve’s customers include 1800Flowers and the Kansas City Chiefs. Despite its dominance as a CDN, Akamai is under pressure from Wall Street due to cutting prices. The firm missed analysts’ expectations for its recent earnings report just this week. Here’s analysis of the news by Liz Gannes at NewTeeVee. Daisy Whitney, Senior Producer
